Looking back...

Trip down Memory lane since this was started after Mia came along...

As our son is about to begin preschool I have a little ache in my heart knowing that we have a long road in front of us that we are just beginning. We were watching Finding Nemo the other day and I got choked up on the part where dad had to let Nemo go and trust that he could do anything he put his mind to. As excited as I am for him and I, I'm also reluctant to share him. He's such a special little boy and letting him out of my sight for 2 days and week for 2 hours is going to be a little harder then I thought- and it's just going to get worse!

He was always a happy baby and big like his sister. His first word was "HOT" and his second practically was "BABY" when Mia showed up in his lap at age 2.4. I couldn't have asked for a better big brother and although they have started having their differences, they still love each other so much. Mia walked up behind him the other day and put her arms around his neck and said "Hi, bruddur..." Too cute. He is kind, smart, loving and funny and I hope that everyone else he meets sees it too, I hate to sound like a biased mama!

But I know it's time to let my buddy go out into the world and make new friends and trust that God will take care of him and that this is the beginning of a bright future!

We love you Vincent Thomas Martineau!!!!!!!!!!!! XOXO

Well, hello there!

Well, it's been a while. We've been busy around here at the Martineau house. I started babysitting a 3 month-old baby named Jack. It's been kind of hard, mainly for Mia who does NOT LIKE SHARING mommy! Boy does she have a temper.
She has started walking almost exclusively, except outside which is unfortunate as she has turned into a ball of mud. But she is doing well and "Mooomyyyy!" is her new, favorite thing to say/whine. Sheesh....
Vince is doing well. He's a big help to mommy while I take care of Jack and Mia and has called Jack his brother. He loves him to death and calls him "Jackie!" So cute....
Two cute things he's said lately have been about daddy. On Monday this week at dinner, he ran over to Gabe and said "Thanks for coming home Daddy!!!" and gave him a big kiss. The next night when daddy wasn't home for dinner he said "Hmmm... somefings missing......" After he said it again I finally asked what. He said "Daddy's missing!" Kinda broke my heart a little. Made him call dad and tell him that one. Of course Gabe thought I told him to say both things although I actually had not! Kids DO say the darnedest things. Went to see Grammy and Grampy and the rest of the gang last weekend and after leaving Uncle Paul's house and my parents house he said "That was fun!" They both are such joyful children and bring so much more to our lives. Most of the time anyway!
Wrestling with Daddy!

13 months!

That's one of her instruments and the only 13 month pic I could get of her sitting

Feeding herself- think she got about 2 drops!

But she wants to be a BIG girl!

Kids say the funniest things!

Vincent loves his sister!

Trying to get a good picture~ HA! (Vince tends to head-butt her!)

A little better....

Mia in her saucer, chewing...

Daddy's girl. She's looking at him...

I was trying to get a cute one of them together, not easy this time!

Vince coloring Grammy's birthday card
Vince has said and done some really funny things lately, so I thought I better write them down before I forget!
The other day I was laying on the couch trying to snooze before Mia got up again and Vince was watching TV. The cartoon was talking about eggs, so I didn't bother to look when he started yelling "Mommy! EGG!!!!! Mommy, Eeeggggggg!!!!" over and over again! I just said yep, Vince I hear it, thinking he was pointing to the TV or something. He kept yelling and I just wasn't looking. So about 15 minutes later Gabe came home for lunch and said as he walked through the living room he said "WHAT is that?! Is that POOP?!!!" I, of course, jumped up and said "WHAT?!" I looked down on the carpet to see a few turds laying on the ground and Vince again saying "EGGS daddy! Eggs, mommy!!" He had "laid" some eggs for us... Gross...
Yesterday we were in the car and I told him that I was stopping at McDonald's to get a drink because I was thirsty, but we weren't getting anything else. As soon as I drive up to the drive-thru though of course he starts yelling for "Fies! Fies pease!" I say again, "Vince, mommy is just getting a drink, I'm thirsty." He says ok, but 1 minute later, after ordering my drink and pulling up to the first window he says very sincerely and sweetly "I wuuuv fies mommy...." Well, how could I say no to that?! Push-over, I know...
The last thing I just remembered is kinda funny too. One day a few weeks ago Gabe and Vince were drawing. Vince said "Draw mommy, daddy!" So, Gabe started drawing and as he drew he said "Mommy's got crazy hair," and under his breath he said, "and big boobs." At which point Vince said laughing "And big boobs!" They both got a whack for that one. So, fast forward to earlier this week. Vince came up to me and said "Mommy- draw!" I said alright, what? He said mommy. So I draw my head, my "crazy hair" and start to draw my body at which point Vince says "Big boobs Mommy!" Ahhh.... thanks Gabe.

Mia is getting bigger and stronger! She now is rolling across the floor! It's really cute to see and I hope that means she'll be walking sooner then Vince did, my arms/back/legs need a break!
Some funny things she does is that she STARES at you when you're eating something, anything! Many times she tries to grab at it too! One day we were all eating pizza and she was staring at Gabe and he said "Sorry, honey! Not for another 6 months or so!" Right after he finished talking, like she understood EXACTLY what he said, she started crying! It was the cutest thing! And she was watching Gabe eat ice cream a week ago and we were watching and her bottom lip started quivering again! Needless to say, she had ice cream.....

Be back with Mia's 6 months pics soon! XOXO
